Cupcakes vs. frosting?

I woke up this morning craving chocolate cupcakes. Not a great way to start the day, right? But then I started thinking, do I want the frosting or the dark rich chocolate cake? My children each have their own favorite, my youngest eats the frosting only, licking it off the cake. My son likes the whole thing, literally savoring every single bite, down to the last crumb. My oldest likes to eat the frosting first, then the cake. My husband likes to eat it all, usually only one at time. He has eaten many a cupcake, and looks thinner than when this process started. It has been over 4,300+ cupcakes by now.

(*Sidenote- speaking of frosting, the dog started barking, so I went upstairs to see what it was about and found my 3 year old in the leftover chocolate frosting… more is on her face than stomach. Here’s a photo to prove it. I tell ya, she sure likes chocolate buttercream! My dog tells me when the kids are up to something… his name is Cupcake, too. Thanks Cupcake- this mess could have been more than just on her little face!)

I on the other hand, have decided that I like the cake and the frosting, as long as there is enough frosting to go around. I want each bite to have some frosting on it. I am generous when it comes to frosting, the more the better. When it comes to whipped cream, I’ll take some with every bite of cupcake.
Question to you: do you like the frosting or the cake? I’d love to hear what you like the best. For now, I’ve got to go and hide the leftover frosting so we can use it on Friday- yes, I am making more cupcakes-Happy baking!

  1. I’m like you, I like frosting with every bite of cake.

  2. Mark likes the cupcake and I think I like frosting with the cake, as for Hailey and many other kids I think she would just take the frosting!
