OK, I had some Halloween spirit this year…

I can’t remember the last time I dressed up in a costume for Halloween. I bet it was back in junior high. Those were the good old days. I don’t really know what changed my way of thinking. Maybe it was that super cute Cupcake Fairy costume that I wrote about a few days ago, or maybe it was the fact that my 6 year old son finally wanted to wear a costume and trick-or-treat for the first time. He might have been the one to give me this inspiration.

One of the first posts I made on this blog was about the movie “Julie & Julia.” I loved it, and loved getting to know Julia Child a little more. She was a fascinating woman. I just happened to have a brown 50’s style dress, a set of pearls, a cute cupcake apron that my fabulous talented sister-in-law Debbie made me, and a rather large, solid cherry wood (heavy) rolling pin my husband gave me as a gift. (He knows how to win my heart) All I needed was a brown wig. I tried pinning my hair up, but it was so heavy and thick, it wasn’t working. So I called my Mother-in-law! It takes a village to get a costume together sometimes. She graciously loaned me her short curly wig. I was set! I had so much fun getting ready and actually enjoyed dressing up. My kids thought I looked like a “Grandma” and Brian just laughed every time he looked at me. For just one night, I was Julia Child.
What do you think? I will start on my next costume, yes I am thinking I should dress up again. We’ll see of course. I don’t know how to top this one though. I hope you all had a great Halloween! I enjoyed time with my family and of course being able to eat some of their chocolate candy. Happy Baking everyone!

  1. I think you made a fairly convincing Julia Child. The high pitched voice is what pulled it all together though!
