As promised, here is another great recipe from the book, 101 Gourmet Cookies for Everyone.
The Amish cookie is simple, flavorful, melt in your mouth good. It’s hard to let them cool completely before digging in. I hope you all enjoy this cookie as much as I have.
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp. vanilla
4 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. cream of tartar
Combine sugar butter and oil. Mix until combined well. Add eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients.
Drop 1 1/2″ pieces on a greased cookie sheet. Flatten the cookie slightly with the bottom of a glass. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool completely. Do not overbake these cookies, or they will become hard.
