I was asked to make some special birthday cupcakes for Miss T. She was turning 13- I remember when I was 13…. but we won’t get into that.
So Miss T knew what she wanted. Multi- colored frosting, black liners with vanilla cupcakes and vanilla custard filling. Pretty specific. Super awesome.
The trick about multi- colored frosting is rather simple. I made my Vanilla Butter Cream recipe from 101 Gourmet Cupcakes and divided it into 5 medium sized bowls. I choose 5 colors that would look good together… I even think that different shades of pink, blue, green, red would be pretty too. In my zip lock baggie, I layered the mixed frosting, cut a hole a the bottom of the bag, and piped the frosting until all 3 colors started coming out. Then frosted each cupcake. I repeated for the other color palate. A rainbow of colors would be terrific too!
