One way I cut down on my time in the kitchen, is making a big batch of marinara sauce and then freezing it. So when I’m rushed or don’t want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen, I can grab a bag of marinara sauce out and dinner is practically done!

I like to eat this marinara sauce with spaghetti squash, or my kids like just the plain spaghetti. Either way it’s perfect.

Marinara Sauce

1 lb. ground turkey

1 lb. ground turkey sausage

1/2 cup diced sweet onion

3 tbsp. Romantic Italian seasoning, or just Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

2- 32 oz. cans crushed tomatoes

1- 16 oz. can diced tomatoes

1 cup chopped fresh basil

Brown the turkey in 1-2 tbsp. olive oil until golden brown. Add the onion and cook 3-4 minutes until translucent. Add the seasonings, and tomatoes. Simmer for 30 minutes on medium, stirring occasionally. Add the fresh basil. Serve over noodles. Makes about 20 servings. I usually freeze 2 gallon sized bags for another 2 meals for my family, dividing the remaining sauce in half and placing it in the bags, cooled of course. Seal and label the bags. Yum.
