Well, this recipe was starting off to be really healthy, until I added the brown sugar cream. I needed to add a sauce to it, so if you didn’t want to, you don’t have to. It’s optional. And by optional I highly suggest it. Raise your hand if you love breakfast for dinner? Me too.
Triple Berry French Toast Bake
1 loaf Whole Wheat bread, cubed
1 pint half and half (I used lite)
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup brown sugar, plus 1/3 cup
2 cups Triple Berry frozen mix, defrosted and juiced drained
Layer the bread in a lightly greased 9×13 baking dish. Then whisk together the eggs, nutmeg and cinnamon. Pour the custard over the bread cubes. Top with the 1 cup brown sugar, evenly layer. And then finally, place the fruit on top of the brown sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes, until the custard is cooked and the bread starts to brown. Serve with 1 pint heavy cream and the remaining brown sugar, slightly warmed and stirred together. (optional)
Happy Breakfast Baking!
